Searching for Entrepreneurs


Oli Barrett MBE, co-founder of StartUp Britain, Tenner, social innovation agency Cospa, reviews the Inaugural Centre for Entrepreneurs Annual Lecture and shares his highlights from the lecture on 27 November at the Royal Institution.

The Centre for Entrepreneurs is the UK’s leading entrepreneurship think tank, researching the economic and social value created by entrepreneurs. I’ve been on the advisory board since its launch and have been inspired by the work of Matt Smith and the team on migrant entrepreneurs, on seaside towns, prison entrepreneurship, the role of universities in supporting graduate startups, and on how entrepreneurship is transforming the lives of resettled refugees.

Newly merged with the New Entrepreneurs Foundation led by Neeta Patel, the organisation wanted to create an Annual Lecture with a special guest who might reflect on the role which entrepreneurs can play in the world. We were incredibly fortunate that Eric Schmidt, former CEO and Chairman of Google, accepted our invitation.
