Business Zone: Councils urged to ‘spend small’ as large firms dominate government spending


The index highlighted that Monmouth City Council was the most business friendly dedicating 26% of its outgoings with small businesses. The worst was Barnsley Metropolitan Council which spent only 4.1%.

The London boroughs of Greenwich and Wandsworth had the highest increases in small business spending at 30% and 25%, while Nottingham’s small firm spend fell by 36.3% and Newport’s by 33% across the three years.
