Nine out of 10 angel investors reported using the government’s Seed Enterprise Investment Scheme and Enterprise Investment Scheme, which provide tax relief to investors in small companies, and these schemes played a big role in encouraging investment activity according to the research.
One in four angels have invested in ventures that have a social impact and these investments accounted for almost 24% of total investment deals for the angels in the survey. The report found 44% of investors are under 45 and almost three-quarters aged 54 years or less. In contrast, survey data from 2008, found the median age of angels was 53 years.
