Sunday Times 100: congratulations to two of our NEF-founded ventures, Thriva and Billion Dollar Boy, for making the annual list.
Both ventures were recognised for their standout performance in becoming some of Britain’s fastest-growing private companies. Number 3 – Thriva (Eliot Brooks and Hamish Grierson) achieved 261.37% growth, achieving £74.44m in sales. Number 41 – Billion Dollar Boy (Edward East) saw 83.84% in growth, grossing £16.85m in sales.
Eliot Brooks (co-founder and COO, Thriva Health), one of our 2014 alumnus returned to speak at our Operations Cycle with our NEF+ Autumn 2022 cohort. Since co-founding the healthtech startup with Hamish Grierson (NEF+ 2012) and Tom Livesey, Thriva has grown to become one of Europe’s fastest growing companies (per the Financial Times FT1000 list), and now making it to the Sunday Times 100 list, alongside Billion Dollar Boy (co-founded by NEF+ 2012’s Edward East).
Our cohort got to hear Eliot’s journey to building the systems and pieces that have helped to scale Thriva’s 100+ person team:
“Be consistently hiring yourself out of the job.” Build a role, make it work and find someone who can do it 10x better than you.
“Be really comfortable with giving away your legos”
“Prioritise, reflect, rinse/repeat: ask yourself “am I spending 20% of my time to generate 80% of value?” And create systems to reflect on that – use Mondays to plan, Fridays to reflect.
We’d like to thank Eliot for his time and pearls of wisdom!
We look forward to more Inspiration sessions with our NEF+ alumni network, helping to power our cohorts with lessons and learnings from their unique journeys
