NEFer venture One Third Stories braves BBC’s Dragons Den

NEF Alumni venture One Third Stories stepped up to the challenge of BBC’s Dragons Den last Sunday, pitching their educational children’s books to the panel of Dragons. One Third Stories was founded by Alex Somervell, from the NEF Class of 2016, along with his co-founder Jonny Pryn.

They impressed Peter Jones, who offered £60,000 for 20% of the business. However, they turned the offer down as they didn’t want to give Peter Jones a ‘preferential’ stake in the business above existing investors.

One Third Stories is now worth a reported £2.64million – eight times the amount Peter Jones valued it at.

“I grew up bilingual in Paraguay to British parents, whereas Jonny’s language learning experience consisted of a French teacher with a cockney accent. Language learning is not where I think it should or could be. We want to inspire the next generation of linguists in the UK and beyond.”
