Centre for Entrepreneurs launches new Annual Lecture, bringing high-level speaker to debate the state of entrepreneurship
Eric Schmidt, former Google chief executive and Alphabet executive chairman, has been announced as the keynote speaker at the inaugural Centre for Entrepreneurs’ (CFE) Annual Lecture on 27th November 2018.
CFE’s prestigious annual lecture, powered by LetterOne, will shine a spotlight on the far-reaching impact of entrepreneurship, taking the debate beyond personal journey stories and narrow debates normally heard at business conferences. Mr Schmidt will address entrepreneurs, senior politicians investors and business leaders to share his thoughts on the challenges and opportunities that society will face with artificial intelligence, and why it is a critical factor facing current and future entrepreneurs.
The Centre for Entrepreneurs is a leading entrepreneurship think tank and forms part of the New Entrepreneurs Foundation, an educational charity that undertakes research, campaigns and programmes in order to advance entrepreneurship across the country. In CFE’s work to make Britain more entrepreneurial, it has recognised a need for a more open debate on entrepreneurs’ potential to improve their communities and the world. The CFE Annual Lecture plugs this gap in the UK’s public debate by avoiding telling the tales of individual entrepreneurial successes and instead providing a platform to discuss the positive impact entrepreneurs have on society.
“Too often, highly experienced entrepreneurs are restricted to using speaking opportunities to share their inspirational story or address topical issues. The quality of debate on the wider value of entrepreneurship suffers greatly because of this”, said Matt Smith, director of the Centre for Entrepreneurs. “The reality is that entrepreneurs make a substantial contribution to the economy and social fabric of all countries.“
“The CFE Annual Lecture allows us to widen the debate, talk about the real issues affecting communities and find ways to utilise entrepreneurship to overcome such problems,”.
“We are proud to have Eric Schmidt as our inaugural speaker. Eric was integral to Google’s rise to the top and, as well as his business success, his philanthropic ventures have seen him support the tech industry as well as finding ways to improve the environment and living sustainably,” Matt Smith added.
Further details of the CFE annual lecture will be released in due course.
